What if the world's GPS infrastructure wasn't owned by governments or monopolized by mega-corps... but run by a global, decentralized community? In this episode, Jon Radoff sits down with Daniel Ammann, co-founder of u-blox and president of onocoy, to explore how blockchain, DePIN and tokenized incentives are reshaping how we access high-precision GNSS data. From drones to self-driving cars to the metaverse, Daniel shares how onocoy is building the next generation of location services... open, affordable, and owned by the people.
Decentralized Tech Livestream: Welcome back everybody. This is the decentralized tech live stream. This is where we talk about
Jon Radoff: all manner of decentralized technology, everything from layer 1s and layer 2s to decentralized finance,
Decentralized Tech Livestream: to occasionally web 3 gaming, but my favorite topic, Deepin, decentralized physical infrastructure networks.
Jon Radoff: Hopefully if you've been watching my streams, Deepin is not a new idea for you because we have been talking to a lot of other Deepin founders. I am a Deepin founder myself. So for those who are maybe tuning in for the first time, my name is Jon Radoff. I am one of the founders in the CEO of a company called Demable and we noticed a huge problem in the game industry. It's a $200 billion industry that's spending tens of billions of dollars on infrastructure and they're currently locked into these very expensive silo technologies. We felt we could open that up and create community ownership around it. So that's what we're doing. We're launching our TGE a little bit later this year. Nodes are actually going on sale pretty soon for our alpha notes. But enough about us for now,
Decentralized Tech Livestream: we'll talk more about what we do from a Deepin standpoint. One of the things I've been trying to do is just bring in
Jon Radoff: the founders and teams behind other Deepin projects. We can get other perspectives. So for example, last week, we talked to Spexy, which is building a Deepin for drones. So it's not just compute networks. It's all manner of hardware that can be put online and solve a lot of really interesting problems from drones to compute to AI to you name it. And today, we're going to talk about GPS.
Decentralized Tech Livestream: So we all know what GPS is. Global positioning system. But we're going to talk about some new problems that can be solved to make GPS even more
Jon Radoff: accurate as I understand it. But I know that Daniel introduced it. Daniel, before we do the deep dive into like specifically what you're building, could we talk a little bit about your own background? Like what brought you to this point in time that you're building a deep in project with GPS?
